ASPEN SORAYA CB105 POWER AMPLIFIER (full retail product)
This is Aspen's premium, flagship retail product, delivering stunning, surreal performance with any speaker load. This amplifier has undergone further revision and refinement for 2011. Power is 105W into 8R, 195W into 4R. The Soraya is the result of radical topology research, with scintillating sonic realism in any and all musical genres. The design of the front end is revolutionary, conferring stellar performance, particularly in terms of clarity, resolution and drive. This amplifier is available in two versions - the Premium, and the Signature, which utilizes ultra-low dielectric absorption capacitors in the signal path. The Soraya is extremely load tolerant and will easily drive electrostatic speakers with perfect stability. This amplifier transcends issues of resolution to deliver natural intimacy, powerful drive, and deep, articulate bass. The presentation and musical engagement is absolutely entrancing to any committed audiophile.
The Soraya is unconditionally warrantied for two years parts and labor, with Service Centers in both Australia and North America.
NAKSA 100 (fully built/tested stereo power amp with integrated power supply)
The NAKSA100 is Aspen's upmarket solid state, push-pull stereo power amplifier module. This new product uses two 230mm x 70mm pcbs each mounted a large 300mm heatsink and incorporating the complete bipolar power supply for both channels. It delivers 100 watts RMS per channel into an 8ohm load (180W into 4R, depending on the power transformer) and requires just one 425VA transformer with two 35Vac secondaries for AC power. The sonics of this amplifier are a revelation and utterly captivating.
The successor to the Lifeforce 100, the NAKSA 100 was created in 2010 and builds even further upon Aspen's reputation for outstanding sound quality. The new amplifier employs totally different topology and design principles to the Lifeforce, and offers tube warmth, stunning resolution, pin sharp imaging and deep, sonorous bass. The NAKSA100 has extraordinary scale and sound stage, and provides a practical option for people with low efficiency speakers, large sized listening rooms, and a love of tube amplifiers without the bass deficiencies and slightly rolled off top end.
NAKSA 70 (fully built/tested stereo power amp with integrated power supply)
The NAKSA70 is Aspen's entry level solid state, push-pull stereo power amplifier module. This new product uses just one 280mm x 70mm pcb, is mounted to a single 300mm heatsink, and incorporating the complete bipolar power supply for both channels. It delivers 70 watts RMS per channel into an 8ohm load and requires just one 300VA transformer with two 30Vac secondaries for AC power. The sonics are a revelation.
The successor to the Lifeforce 55, the NAKSA 70 was created in 2010 and builds upon Aspen's reputation for outstanding sound quality. The new amplifier employs totally different topology and design principles to the Lifeforce, and offers tube warmth, stunning resolution, pin sharp imaging and deep, sonorous bass. The NAKSA70 has both power and glory, and provides a sensible, economical option for people with moderate efficiency speakers, average sized listening rooms, and a love of tube amplifiers without the bass deficiencies.
This is the cut-down, kit version of the AKSA Swift Preamplifier! It brings the same, sensational benefits to soundstage, clarity, layering and engagement, particularly when used with AKSA power amplifiers. Released in bare format in late December 2002, the basic version sells for less than $US625 for a complete kit, including tubes, two grain oriented silicon steel transformers and all components with the sole exception of the enclosure. The manual switching variant is priced at less than $US835. At these prices, the GK-1 matches and exceeds the performance of big name products costing five times more. This product is literally extraordinary.
'PARIS' MOVING COIL HEADAMP (retail product)
The Paris MC Headamp was developed largely as an intellectual exercise. The amplification of the tiny output signals from moving coil cartridges, typically at a level of just one half a millivolt or even less, is one of the most difficult design challenges of audio engineering. At these input levels, tubes are quite noisy, and even good opamps are in grave difficulties. Short of immersing germanium transistors in liquid nitrogen, the usual techniques employ either carefully matched, single die differential transistors, often Jfets, or transformers, which are very expensive and somehow always fall short on resolution. Unfortunately, the usual topologies have poor power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), and this mandates very quiet supplies, often batteries.
Aspen has developed an extraordinarily quiet MC single ended headamp which uses hard to source high transconductance JFETs from Toshiba and has very high PSRR. The design implements an elegant but unique single ended topology to refer the output to ground, rather than the supply rail. For minimal noise, a battery is used, enabling a fully floating supply, thus minimising earth loops, a major problem with head amplifiers. This markedly improves PSRR, thus reducing noise to virtual inaudibility. In turn this escalates information retrieval, for which the MC cartridges are renown.
The Paris was named after a favourite Ry Cooder album, a truly evocative musical experience not unlike this component.
The VSONICS are a stunning new 2-way transmission line speakers with a large 8" SEAS midbass woofer and an impressive 150W RMS/ 8ohm rating. This speaker was redeveloped in late 2010 for the SEAS CAS22RNY bass driver, resulting in even more performance to rival the best transmission lines in the world. The sound qualities of these speakers are astonishing......
These exceptional loudspeakers were designed to complement the AKSA, Lifeforce, NAKSA and Soraya power amplifiers, and because of their unique, innovative design are ideal for almost any system or room. This unusual flexibility is achieved with a unique transmission line design which fires forward and permits the speakers to be placed against the rear wall if required. The combination of imaging, resolution, vitality and bass heft is astonishing for such a small speaker - they are less than 3' tall, and yet the sound brings any room to life like no other speaker. The VSonics will suit almost any listening environment or program material and are suited to apartments, home theatres and large listening spaces alike.
